Entered premises without valid pass, being grilled for hours

New Delhi:  In a major security breach, a man on Friday entered the premises of Parliament without a valid pass, following which he was detained and interrogated by security agencies for hours.  The incident took place around 7.40 AM when Pradeep Kumar, a native of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh, walked into the Parliament premises through the visitor’s gate on Talkatora Road without the required pass.

He went past the first security layer and was stopped at the second.

“No visitor is allowed access to the premises without a valid pass. The man was stopped at the second security layer. He was detained for security reasons and his records were thoroughly checked,” Joint Secretary for Parliament Security Ajay Anand told PTI.

Kumar was stopped at the second check point where security officials, surprised on seeing him there without a valid pass, surrounded him. He was detained and questioned there till he was handed over to police around 12 PM, a senior official said.  Kumar carried an Aadhar card, with the help of which security agencies contacted his family for verification of details.

Several records were checked and at the police station Kumar was jointly interrogated by security officials and intelligence sleuths till evening, the official said. During questioning, the man told security agencies that he had no specific intentions and just went inside with a group of visitors.
