India can become global manufacturing hub, says CM
Mumbai : A step forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement ‘Make in India’ campaign – a call to the world to come and invest in India, ‘Make in India Week’ is being organised for the first time in the country and Mumbai will be the first city to host the mega event. The Make in India Week has been organised from Februarly 13 to 18 at the MMRDA ground in BKC, jointly organised by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and Maharashtra government.
Addressing a gathering in Mumbai on Saturday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the world has now started to recognize India as a trusted investment destination and the Make in India Week programme which will be held here under the theme of innovation, design and sustainability will be the crux of various programmes conducted by the World Economic Forum.
Fadnavis said that economies of countries like China and Japan are not in a very good shape, so the world recognises India as a trusted investment destination. He further said that delegates and political heads representing various countries will take part in the event. “This is like a festival for us and we have to celebrate it. Unless all the stakeholders come together and work, we will not
get the desired results,” he said. Showcasing larger canvas of manufacturing and cultural heritage of Maharashtra, a number of events are planned like Investment summit, sectoral seminars, CNN Asia Forum, various cultural programs organized at Gateway of India, Girgaum Chowpatty and many other places.
