Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi is now under the radar of critics for dismissing a man in need and saying, "Main aapke baap ka naukar nahin hu (I am not your father's servant)."
A person allegedly called Gandhi for help but the BJP leader expressed his anger when he sought his help at 9.30 pm.
Several reports made rounds on social media that the leader in the aforementioned clip was Varun Gandhi.
In the clip, one can hear a man who identified himself as a resident of Pilibhit seek help from Gandhi. "Brother, at 9.30 pm - is this the time to call me? If you want to talk then call me in the morning," said Gandhi.
To this, the man said, "It was work and that's why I called you."
Expressing his displeasure over this, Gandhi said, "Main aapke baap ka naukar nahi hu na jo mein aapse raat ke 10 baje baat karu?" He added, "If you have work at 12 in the night then I am sorry I cannot talk to you at 12 or 10 in the night."
"Please ek sharif aadmi ke tarah din mein call karein," he said.
The man said, "I am from your constituency. Who else will listen to me?"
Gandhi, however, said that he will listen to his grievance in the morning, adding "I'm sorry mein aapka naukar nahi hu."
Reports suggested that the man who called the BJP leader needed Gandhi's help to prevent himself from being arrested for selling spurious alcohol to underage children.
