Lok Sabha elections 2019 – 2nd Phase Live Updates: Polling has concluded completely in 14 states & Union Territories

The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections has begun. The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections will see ninety-five parliamentary constituencies, spread over 11 states and 1 Union Territory, going to polls on Thursday. In the second phase, the polling will be held in Assam (five seats), Bihar (five seats), Chhattisgarh (three seats), Jammu and Kashmir (two seats), Karnataka (14 seats), Maharashtra (10 seats), Manipur (one seat), Odisha (five seats), Tamil Nadu (38 seats), Uttar Pradesh (eight seats), West Bengal (three seats), and Union Territory Puducherry (one seat).

7.10 pm: Election Commission: 2nd phase of General Elections concluded today…By today, polling has concluded completely in 14 states & Union Territories

3.11 pm: Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and his family cast their vote for the Rajnandgaon parliamentary constituency

1:05 pm: Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar casts his vote at a polling booth in Dodda Halahalli, Kanakapura Taluka. #LokSabhaElections2019

12:53 pm: Lucknow: SP-BSP-RLD candidate from Lucknow parliamentary constituency, Poonam Sinha, holds a road show after filing nomination; Shatrughan Sinha & Dimple Yadav also present #LokSabhaElections2019

12.45 pm: West Bengal: CPM candidate from Raiganj Mohammad Salim’s vehicle attacked in Islampur; CPM has alleged that TMC is behind the attack.

12.45 pm: Karnataka: Former CM Siddaramaiah and his son Yathindra Siddaramaiah
cast their votes at a polling booth in Mysuru.

12.40 pm: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Jammu & Kashmir’s Srinagar and Udhampur parliamentary constituency is 17.8%.

12.40 pm: Maharashtra: Polling booth number 193 in Buldhana is being managed by specially-abled staff. Presiding officer, says, “This booth is being managed by specially-abled staff only. I appeal to all specially-abled persons to cast their votes to strengthen democracy.”

12.35 pm: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Tamil Nadu is 30.62%.

12.30 pm: Karnataka: State BJP Vice President Tejaswini Ananth Kumar casts her vote for #LokSabhaElections2019 at the polling station in Sri Vasavi Vidya Niketan in Bengaluru’s Basavanagudi.

12.20 pm: Omar Abdullah on Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur: BJP have given ticket (from Bhopal) to a candidate who is not only an accused in a terror case but is also out on bail on health grounds. If her health condition doesn’t permit her to be in jail,how does it permit her to contest polls?

12.15 pm: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Assam is 26.39%, in Chhattisgarh is 26.2%.

12.00 pm: Farooq Abdullah & Omar Abdullah cast their votes at a polling station in Munshi Bagh Area in Srinagar LS constituency. O Abdullah says, “Now that LS polls are due to conclude, we can only hope that Centre together with EC gives people of J&K an elected govt which is their right.”

11.55 am: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Uttar Pradesh (8 constituencies) is 24.31%

11.50 am: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Bihar is 18.97%.

11.40 am: WB: Security personnel lob tear gas shells and lathi charge locals as they block NH-34 in protest after unknown miscreants allegedly prevented them from casting their votes at Digirpar polling booth in Chopra, in Islampur subdivision of North Dinajpur.

11.30 am: Maharashtra: Maharashtra Congress chief and sitting MP from Nanded Ashok Chavan casts his vote at a polling station in Nanded parliamentary constituency.

11.20 am: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Manipur is 32.18%.

11.10 am: WB: BJP General Secy&candidate from Raiganj constituency Debasree Chaudhuri alleges TMC workers were trying to capture booth at Raiganj Coronation High School. Says “TMC workers were trying to capture booth. They were campaigning among Muslims there. This isn’t election campaign”.


11.05 am: BJP MP Candidate from Mathura, Hema Malini says, “Development in Mathura is all due to my efforts. SP-BSP are only engaged in fighting with each other. There is a huge Modi wave here.”

11.05 am: Maharashtra: Polling has temporarily halted at booth number 217 in Solapur’s Shastri Nagar due to fault in Electronic Voting Machine.

11.00 am: Assam: Sitting MP from Silchar & party’s candidate from the parliamentary constituency, Sushmita Dev, casts her vote along with her mother and sister at a polling booth in Silchar.

10.55 am: Mumbai: Election Commission Flying Squad has seized Rs 11.85 lakh unaccounted cash in Sion area; More details awaited.

10.50 am: Karnataka: Former Prime Minister and JDS leader HD Deve Gowda and his wife cast their votes at a polling station in Hassan’s Paduvalahippe.

10.45 am: Bihar: Union Minister and BJP candidate from Buxar, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, cast his vote at a polling station in Bhagalpur.

10.40 am: Agra: UP Congress chief Raj Babbar and party’s candidate from Fatehpur Sikri casts his vote at the polling booth in Radha Ballabh Inter College.

10.35 am: Maharashtra: 105-year-old Kavaibai Kamble along with her family cast her vote at a polling station in Harangul Budruk in Latur constituency; Polling is underway at 10 parliamentary constituencies in the state.

10.30 am: ammu & Kashmir: Visuals from polling station number 27-Reshanhar in Srinagar parliamentary constituency; Polling is underway in Srinagar and Udhampur parliamentary constituencies.

10.25 am: Voter turnout till 10 AM in Bihar is 19.5%.

10.20 am: Chhattisgarh: A polling official deputed at polling booth number 186 in Kanker dies of heart attack during election duty.

10.20 am: Jammu & Kashmir: Voting underway at polling station number 2 in Doda, in Udhampur parliamentary constituency.

10.15 am: Jammu & Kashmir: An 80-year-old patient, Jogindero Devi, comes from Kathua district hospital at polling booth number 2, in Kathua, to cast her vote for Lok Sabha Elections 2019. She will return to the hospital after casting her vote.

10.10 am: K’taka CM HD Kumaraswamy after casting his vote in Ramanagara: Dynasty politics isn’t an important issue now,country’s problems are the main issue.Only because of dynasty politics&regional politics,this country developed in several states.We’re not bothered abt criticism from BJP.

10.05 am: Karnataka: A senior citizen couple, 91-year-old Shrinivas and 84-year-old Manjula, cast their votes at a polling booth in Jayanagar of Bangalore South Parliamentary constituency.

9.46 am: Jammu & Kashmir: A newly married couple arrive at a polling station in Udhampur to cast their votes.

9.35 am: Tamil Nadu: DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan casts his vote at a polling station in Mylapore, in Chennai South Parliamentary constituency.

9.30 am: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh casts his vote at a polling booth in Imphal.

9.25 am: Tamil Nadu: BJP candidate for Sivaganga constituency H Raja casts his vote at a at a polling station in Karaikudi, Sivaganga.

9.20 am: Voter turnout in #Bihar (5 constituencies) is 12.27%, till 8 am.

9.15 am: Bengaluru: RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale casts his vote at polling station number 45 in Seshadripuram.


9.05 am: Karnataka: Deputy CM G Parameshwara and his wife Kannika Parameshwari cast their vote at a polling booth in Koratagere, Tumkur.


9.02 am: Tamil Nadu: DMK Lok Sabha candidate from Thoothukudi, Kanimozhi casts her vote at a polling station in Chennai’s Alwarpet, says, “People in the opposition have been harassed, raids targeted at opposition candidates. BJP have completely taken over AIADMK.

9.00 am: Odisha: Voting procedure was halted at booths 261 and 263 in Bolangir Lok Sabha constituency due to EVM malfunction. The voting has now resumed.

8.56 am: Mathura: People queue up outside booth number number 46 in Gantholi village of Govardhan block. The voting is yet to begin here due to EVM malfunction.

8.55 am: Congress symbol seen outside polling booth at Triveni Nayak School in Katihar; Five parliamentary constituencies in the state are voting.

8.50 am: Karnataka: PWD minister HD Revanna offers prayers at a temple in Paduvalahippe village in Hassan.

8.45 am: Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi casts her her vote

8.45 am: Tamil Nadu: Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan and his daughter Shruti Haasan cast their votes at polling station 27 at Alwarpet Corporation School in Chennai.

8.40 am: Bengaluru: Independent candidate from Bengaluru Central, Prakash Raj queues up at a
polling booth.

8.35 am: West Bengal: People queue outside a polling station in Darjeeling.

8.30 am: Beed DM Astik Kr Pandey: Five places have reported EVM and VVPAT malfunction since morning in Beed constituency. Those are Georai, Mazalgaon, Kej, Ashti, Parali. However all those machines have been replaced immediately and polling is going smoothly at all locations.

8.25 am: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy casts his vote at a polling station.

8.20 am: Maharashtra: A pregnant woman and her husband, after casting their vote at polling booth number 164 in Nehru Nagar of Solapur.

8.15 am: Voter turnout in #Bihar (5 constituencies) is 5.73%, till 8am.

8.15 am: Manipur: Governor Najma Heptulla casts her vote at a polling station in Imphal.

8.10 am: Karnataka: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman casts her vote at polling booth 54 in Jayanagar of Bangalore South Parliamentary constituency.

8.05 am: Puducherry: Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi stands in queue to cast her vote.

8.00 am: Tamil Nadu: CM Edappadi K Palanisamy cast his vote at a polling station in Edappadi, Selam.


7.45 am: Assam: Visuals from polling station number 200 in Silchar where VVPAT was not working properly earlier today. Sahadat Ali, Sector Officer says “The VVPAT is fine now, people can now cast their votes.”

7.40 am: Tamil Nadu: Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan and his daughter Shruti Haasan queue up outside polling station 27 at Alwarpet Corporation School in Chennai to cast their votes.

7.35 am: Karnataka: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrives at polling booth 54 in Jayanagar of Bangalore South Parliamentary constituency to cast her vote.

7.33 am: West Bengal: Polling is yet to begin at booth number 29/134 at Islampur Hindi FP School of Uttar Dinajpur, in Raiganj Parliamentary constituency, as the EVM at the booth is not functioning.

7.30 am: Nalini Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram and his wife Srinidi Rangarajan casts their vote at a polling station in Karaikudi, Sivaganga.

7.25 am: Assam: Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine not working properly at a polling station in Silchar. Polling officers trying to fix it.
