Erode (TN) : A leopard killed a man near a ghat road in Thimbam forest area early today as he was standing beside his vegetable-laden van, which had veered off course due to a mechanical problem, forest department officials said.

The feline pounced on the 30-year-old man as he was waiting beside the van and dragged him into the forest, they said.

The van driver was busy in shifting the vegetables to another vehicle. The two van drivers later informed forest department officers, who rushed an armed team to the spot.

They located the man’s body on a slope, but could not retrieve it due to heavy mist and it would be done after the weather cleared, the officials said.
