Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy admits  his government is in danger

Bengaluru: As the political crisis deepens in Karnataka – Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday, as per some reports, admitted that the ‘government is in danger’ but he is not ‘perturbed’ as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not succeed in poaching MLAs. The Congress MLAs in Karnataka, who have been herded to a resort outside the city to keep them away from being poached, on Saturday held a meeting to discuss the political situation in the state. “The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meet was held at Eagleton Resort. The meet discussed present political situation, drought situation and issues regarding Budget proposals,” the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) said in a statement. The legislators were shifted to the private resort on the city outskirts on Friday night after a CLP meeting was chaired by CLP leader Siddaramaiah at the state legislature building Vidhana Soudha, as a show of legislators’ strength. The Congress party over the past week has been accusing the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of allegedly poaching its legislators. Assailing the BJP for trying to poach his party’s MLAs by offering “huge amounts of cash”, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumarasawmy on Saturday said legislators were being treated as commodities.

Kumaraswamy also accused the saffron party of “making a mockery” of democracy. He said the developments needed to be looked at seriously as the honour and pride of the legislators is at stake. arnataka CM admits his govt is in danger “It has become a national issue today. The BJP leaders are offering huge amounts of cash for MLAs of Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) to resign and join them. Legislators are being treated as commodities. “For us this is the worst phase where the honour and pride of legislators is at stake. They are making mockery of democracy in Karnataka. This needs a serious look.” The Congress has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of indulging openly in horse-trading to bring down the JD-S-Congress coalition government in the southern state.
