NEW DELHI: The Modi Government on Wednesday advised President Pranab Mukherjee to immediately sack Mizoram Governor Kamla Beniwal, ahead of her 5-year tenure that is ending on November 27.

Only on July 6, the 87-year old Beniwal was transferred to Mizoram from Gujarat where she had a running feud with Narendra Modi as the then chief minister. A Jat leader from Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan, she was the first female minister in Rajasthan at the age of 27 and held various posts as a minister in various Congress governments in the state since 1954. She was appointed the governor of Tripura in October 2009 and transferred to Gujarat a month later on November 27, 2009.
