NEW DELHI : The proceedings of Parliament’s Joint Parliamentary Committee on the 2G spectrum scam were derailed on Tuesday with the BJP boycotting the deliberations for the second time and accusing chairman P C Chacko of brazenly shielding government. Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, who led a walkout by four of the six BJP members on the JPC, told a Press meet that Chacko had started behaving like a Congress spokesman and not as a chairman. There is no way the JPC can any more be instrumental in uncovering the truth as every act of Chacko in the last two sittings is aimed at putting a lid on the scandal.
Chacko hit back asserting that the BJP members had disrupted the proceeding and walked out in the last two meetings without any rhyme or reason. “We are going ahead and will hold meetings every Tuesday,” he affirmed.
Flanked by Gopinath Munde, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dharmendra Pradhan, Sinha said the party leadership was busy organising the “Bharat Bandh” and would take a decision later on whether to continue on the JPC or not.
The BJP members fell out on their demand that the list of the remaining witnesses should include PM Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
