India has so far administered 75 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses, said Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday.
"This 75th year of independence, our country has crossed 75 crore mark of COVID-19 vaccination", the Health Minister wrote on Twitter.
WHO congratulated India for the achievement and accelerating COVID19 vaccination saying, "India reached 750 million doses from 650 million doses in just 13 days".
"This is a big achievement. I express my gratitude to the public, COVID-19 warriors, state governments and the Prime Minister who provided free vaccines to all. India has surpassed many countries in terms of vaccinating its population", Union Min Anurag Thakur said.
The Health ministry on Sunday stated, "Over 72 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and Union Territories so far through the Government of India's free of cost channel.
As per an official release, mentioning the fact that the Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country, the ministry stated, "More than 72.21 crores (72,21,17,085) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category." "More than 57 lakh doses (57,56,240) are in the pipeline," it added.
Meanwhile, India's active COVID-19 tally dipped significantly on Monday morning even as 27,254 people tested positive during the last 24 hours. As per Health Ministry data, there were also 37,687 recoveries and 219 deaths during this period. With this, the total number of active cases has now dropped to 3.74 lakh.
