India's COVID-19 case tally continues to drop, with a little above 1.27 lakh fresh cases being reported on Tuesday morning. According to the Health Ministry this is the lowest single day surge in 54 days. The death toll has also dropped over the last few days, with 2,795 fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 2,55,287 people were discharged.
With this, India's active case load has now dropped to 18.95 lakh. At the state level, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu now lead the charts with more than three lakh active cases each. Kerala and Maharashtra follow, with an active caseload that remains above the two lakh mark.
According to the Union Health Ministry, India's active caseload dropped by 1,30,572 in the last 24 hours, with the recovery rate increasing to 92.09% today. The weekly positivity rate is currently pegged at 8.64% while the daily positivity rate dipped to 6.62%. At the same time, India's vaccination drive continues, with 21,60,46,638 doses having been administered thus far.
