NEW DELHI: The Congress on Wednesday rejected questions on Rahul Gandhi’s resignation as the party president, claiming India needs him to save ‘insaniyat’ (humanity) in the country. Its MP spokesman Gaurav Gogoi said:

"Not only the Congress workers but political workers of other parties also think India needs Rahul Gandhi today if the humanity is to be saved in the country and Hindustan has to remain Hindustan."

He told a press conference here that Rahul’s continuance has been stressed by Congress Working Committee before which he offered resignation as moral responsibility for the party’s drubbing in the polls.
