The Pulwama terror attack which took place on February 14 shook the entire country, and claimed lives of 44 army jawans. After the terror attack, the government launched a massive crackdown on terrorists and investigation into the Pulwama attack. Now, reports have surfaced saying that India has established the involvement of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist group in the Pulwama terror attack.

According to the Hindustan Times, during the investigation, India found proof which proved that JeM had hand in the Pulwama attack. India has handed over evidence to Pakistan and also to top diplomats of other countries, in which they have found that the group used same Internet Protocol (IP) address from a location near Rawalpindi, Pakistan, to upload the video confession of the suicide bomber Adil Ahmad Dar, and also the statement of its spokesperson Mohammed Hassan, said the report. The evidence collected by India includes a series of annexures – videos of speeches, pamphlets, and social media posts using Pakistan numbers on WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook.

The report further stated that the Indian security agencies investigation has revealed that the WhatsApp number 7006250771, which is said to be associated with JeM spokesperson Muhammed Hassan, was used to claim responsibility for the terror attack. The evidence also states that the attack was hatched by JeM chief Masood Azhar and his younger brother Abdul Rauf Asghar to avenge the death of Talha Rasheed.

The investigations into Pulwama terror attack further revealed that JeM’s Abdul Rasheed Ghazi infiltrated into the valley on December 9, 2018 with the objective of training local radicalised Kashmiri youth to avenge the killing of Usman Haider and Talha Rasheed.

The evidence collected by the Indian security agencies also showed that Pakistani intelligence operatives made anonymous calls to CRPF offices, hospitals, police control rooms, and locals to get details of casualties. India has also shared brief details about other six prominent JeM attacks including the attack on Pathankot airbase on January 2, 2016 and the attack on Indian consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan.

The fate of the proposal to designate Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed’s chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN Security Council will be known in less than 24 hours when the deadline to raise objections to the bid expires.  The proposal to designate Azhar under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council was moved by France, UK, and the US on February 27.
