Pimpri Chinchwad: The brother of a married woman, has filed a First Information Report against her in-laws at Bhosri police station, accusing them of mentally tormenting his sister for being overweight. He further stated, they should be held responsible for her suicide after they dropped her back at her parents’ home for her inability to shed weight. Police have booked her husband, his parents and one more person for abetting Priyanka Pethkar’s suicide under the section of the Indian Penal Code for abetment.
Priyanka was married three years ago in Faltan and lived near Bhosri. She was frequently subjected to taunts in her marital home for being fat. A year ago, her in-laws brought her back to her parents’ home. As a result, she was immensely stressed and had become depressed, which led her to take her own life on May 25. She hanged herself from the fan.
