New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi on Thursday attacked the Congress and other parties which have tried to forge a “maha-gathbandhan,’ dismissing them as “maha-milavat” (grand adulteration) and pointing out how the nation had suffered for 30 years before he formed a government with full majority. That was a cue for him to list his ‘so many achievements’ in 55 months, as against 55 years of the Congress rule.

He also claimed in his 100 minutes of sound and fury that “Congress-Mukt Bharat” was not his slogan and he was only trying to fulfil the wish of Mahatma Gandhi after Independence that the Congress should disband itself. He went on to quote Ambedkar then, stating that joining the Congress is like committing suicide.

Replying to a 2-day debate on the motion of thanks for the President’s address, he cited how the Congress had weakened the armed forces over the years, by not purchasing a single fighter plane in the past 30 years. He also saw in the Congress campaign on cancellation of Rafale deal yet another attempt to enfeeble the IAF.

“Whose game are you playing,” he asked the Congress, hinting it was acting on behalf of another aircraft manufacturer. He said not a single defence deal during 55 years of the Congress rule was without “dalaali” (commission) and hence he can understand why the Congress is becoming upset over the arrest of three defence brokers in recent times.

He ridiculed the Congress for claiming there were “surgical strikes” by the Indian forces even during its time while the reality is that it had weakened the Armed Forces by ignoring its needs for which the nation will never pardon it. How could an unarmed Armed Force carry out the surgical strikes then when it did not have helmets and shoes, he asked and pointed out how their demand in 2009 for 1.86 lakh bullet-proof jackets was not fulfilled till 2014.

“You never allowed the Indian Army to become strong. Luckily, no enemy country took advantage,” Modi asserted. He also referred to the ‘fake Army coup’ staged in 2012 by the then UPA-II and described it as a “sin” to insult the Army. He said the Opposition accuses him of destroying the institutions but the truth is it were the Congress and its allies that are engaged in insulting all the constitutional bodies.

Be it the Election Commission or the judiciary — to the extent of frightening the then Chief Justice of India —the RBI, or the CBI. Modi also flaunted demonetisation: it had stemmed the foreign money flow into the NGO coffers. Modi also referred to his government’s “zero tolerance” to black money. This was possible since “we have no baggage, as we do not expect any favour from anybody, nor oblige any favour-seeker.

Coining new acronyms – BC and AD – the two time periods in Georgian calendar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi used them to take a swipe at the Congress, saying it has known only two phases – Before Congress and After Dynasty. The Prime Minister has helped steal Rs 30,000 crore from the defence forces. He has handed over that money to Anil Ambani.

He has done this personally. Remember what I said. He is a coward who turns away when he is confronted with facts. The Chinese understood in two minutes that the talk of a 56 inch chest was bluster; he only has a four inch chest. If he has a 56 inch chest, why does he not have a press conference?
