Bengaluru : The Karnataka CID team on Saturday filed a detailed charge sheet against Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi of raping two women devotees, paving the way for his arrest.
Though the chargesheet was to be filed on Monday in view of the Karnataka bandh, the CID went ahead on Saturday itself.
Meanwhile, the High Court on Saturday postponed an order till September 29 on the plea of the seer seeking a stay on the medical test that he is to undergo on the orders of the investigating agency. The CID chargesheet establishes rape as the semen stains found on a woman devotee’s clothes were that of the seer. The chargesheet also names the officials who tried to hush up the case. The CID chargesheet found substance in the allegation of sexual harassment of a 48-year-old singer by Raghaveshwara Bharathi. Investigations have concluded that the seer sexually harassed her.
The seer allegedly repeatedly raped the well-known folk singer, who was a devotee of mutt. In November 2014, the singer’s daughter lodged a complaint of rape with the Banashankari police.
