Panaji : A group of hackers, who identified themselves as ‘Pak cyber attackers’ on Sunday hacked the website of the Goa Institute of Management, a top B-school in the state.

After the cyber attack, the content uploaded by the hackers on the homepage of www.gim.ac.in suggested that the website was hacked on August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day, in protest against the “killing of Muslims in Kashmir and in India”.

“Pakistan Zindabad Happy August 14, 2016 – Team Pak Cyber Attackers – Stop Killing of Muslims in Kashmir and in India,” read the homepage of the compromised website, which also displayed the Pakistani national flag.

The lead hacker from the group identified himself as Zain Haxor.  The hacked website was later restored. No First Information Report has been registered yet, according to the police. GIM Director K. Balakrishnan could not be reached for comments.

Chair of the management institute’s campus at Ribander, near Panaji, Raj V Amonkar told reporters that the GIM’s in-house technical department managed to resurrect the website a few hours after it was hacked.

“It was a minor thing, which was handled by our technical team so we did not file a police complaint,” he said.  Over the last three years, 17 websites operated by various departments of the Goa government too have been hacked, some of them by Pakistan-based hackers.  -IANS
