New Delhi: A six-year-old girl, missing overnight, was found drowned in the septic tank of her house in Delhi Monday, police said.

The body of Ritika, who was missing since Sunday evening, was found by her father in the septic tank of their rented house in southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area.

No injury marks were found on her body, police said.

The victim’s parents alleged that house owner Laxman Singh killed their daughter.

A case of negligence has been registered against Laxman Singh and his family members are being questioned.

“Laxman Singh’s role behind the incident is under suspicion as he went missing after the body was recovered from the tank,” a police official said.

Police said that Jai Prakash Tiwari, father of the victim, resides on the first floor of the house and Laxman Singh’s family resides on the ground floor where the septic tank is located.

Ritika, who studied in kindergarten, went to the ground floor to play. She was missing since 5 p.m. Sunday.

Her body was found when the cover of the tank was removed today (Monday) morning, the official said.

During investigations it was found that Laxman Singh had threatened Tiwari over the issue of house rent.
