Chennai: Five years ago then AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa placed a simple question before the electorate in Tamil Nadu as to who would bring development to the state, this Lady or Modi. And in the Lady Vs Modi battle, the electorate gave a resounding verdict in Jayalalithaa’s favour delivering a historical 37 of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies to the AIADMK.
Cut to the present, AIADMK sans Jayalalithaa was on Friday trolled on social media after it emerged that BJP president Amit Shah had given a diktat to the party coordinator and Deputy CM to not call their front as an AIADMK alliance but instead refer to it as National Democratic Alliance.
When Panneerselvam met Amit Shah and other BJP leaders at the Madurai airport twice, Shah insisted that CM EK Palaniswami, Deputy CM and leaders of all alliance parties must attend a public rally to be held in next month. And then he said the alliance should be called NDA.
As video footage of the incident was circulated, critics began trolling AIADMK leadership questioning if such a thing would have ever happened under Jayalalithaa’s leadership.
