1. Maharashtra: COVID-19 curbs to be eased from June 7 as per positivity rate, oxygen bed occupancy

The Maharashtra government has announced a five-level plan to relax the coronavirus-induced restrictions in the state, based on the weekly positivity rate and the occupancy of oxygen beds. A notification to this effect was issued late on Friday night. The order will come into effect from June 7 based on the positivity rate and the oxygen bed occupancy level of June 3, it said. Under the notification, each municipal area and district has been treated as separate administrative unit. The notification said that every Thursday, the state public health department will declare the number of oxygen beds and the positivity rate, based on which the disaster management authority will decide the level of an administrative unit.

2. Delhi markets to open on odd-even basis from Monday, metro to run at 50 pc capacity: Arvind Kejriwal

The Delhi Metro will operate at 50 per cent capacity and markets and malls in the national capital will open on an odd-even basis from June 7, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said today as he announced further relaxations in lockdown. The lockdown in Delhi, which was to end at 5 AM on Monday, will be extended further but several relaxations will be allowed, Kejriwal said during an online briefing. Government and private offices will be allowed to reopen with 50 per cent attendance. Markets and malls will be allowed to open on an odd-even basis from 10 AM to 8 PM, he said.

3. Centre serves 'final notice' to Twitter over non-compliance of new IT rules

Citing non-compliance of New Intermediary Guideline Rules by Twitter, the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) today sent a final communication to Twitter asking them to comply immediately with the requirements of the new guidelines failing which resultant consequences as enjoined in the law shall follow. A letter stated that the New Intermediary Guideline Rules have become effective from May 26. After expiry of 3-month period given to social media intermediaries for compliance, Twitter is yet to appoint India based Chief Compliance Officer, Nodal Contact Person and Grievance Officer.

4. After Vice President's account, Twitter removes verified blue tick from RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's handle

Twitter today removed the blue verification badge from the personal accounts of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat as well as a number of other leaders from the organisation. Earlier in the day, the microblogging site removed the blue badge from the account of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu only to restore it later. According to Sangh sources, Twitter has over the past several days removed the blue badge from the accounts of many RSS leaders whose accounts were verified by the social media platform back in 2019. The list includes prominent Sangh leaders including Gopal Krishna, Arun Kumar, and former leaders Suresh Soni and Suresh B Joshi.

5. West Bengal: Abhishek Banerjee appointed as TMC general secretary; Saayoni Ghosh takes charge as party's youth wing president

TMC MP and Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee today has been appointed as party general secretary, while Saayoni Ghosh will take charge as president of All India Trinamool Youth Congress. Although Saayoni lost her Asansol South seat in this Assembly Polls, she managed to gain immense popularity among the TMC young workers. Besides, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has been appointed as the party's state general secretary. The appointments took place at a meeting held by party chief and CM Mamata Banerjee.
