Hyderabad: Telangana government today ordered an inquiry into media reports which highlighted some fire department personnel consuming liquor on the eve of New Year while on duty.
Assistant District Fire Officer KV Krishna Kumar has been appointed as inquiry officer and a report with regard to the alleged incident would be submitted soon, P Venkateshawar, Director of Fire Services Telangana, said.
According to reports, four fire department officials were purportedly consuming liquor in the premises of Moula Ali fire station in Rangareddy district on the night of December 31.
“We have seen the reports. An inquiry has been ordered. After receiving the report, we will decide on the course of action (against the officials if found guilty),” Venkateshwar told PTI.
The reports also carried pictures of the personnel enjoying a party while in uniform.
