Jammu: A Major-rank Army officer was killed and a soldier suffered injuries while they were defusing an improvised explosive device at Nowshera sector in Jammu and Kashmir. The officer is from the Corps of Engineers. The explosive had been planted by intruders from Pakistan about 1.5 kilometres inside the Line of Control.
Today’s incident comes just 48 hours after more than 40 CRPF personnel were killed in the worst terror attack on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The news trickled hours after union minister Rajnath Singh had closed-door meetings with the country’s top intelligence officers. The government, it is understood, is preparing a dossier on Pakistan’s involvement in the car bomb attack.
This dossier will be the basis of any action that the Indian government proposes to take against Pakistan. The dossier will help isolate Pakistan internationally. Sources told CNN-News18 that an Afghan war veteran, Abdul Rashid Ghazi, who allegedly infiltrated into Valley in December and is an IED expert, could be the mastermind of Saturday’s blast in Pulwama. The officials who met Rajnath included chief of RAW Anil Dhasmana, NSA Ajit Doval, Home Secy Rajiv Gauba and Director of Intelligence Bureau, Rajiv Jain. Meanwhile, PM Modi in Dhule (Maharashtra) asserted that each drop of tear shed in the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack would be avenged.
