Bhadohi: A 54-year-old man was killed and his wife seriously injured when their motorcycle was hit by a milk tanker in Auraiye area this morning, police said.
The accident took place when Sant Lal and his wife Sona Devi (50) were going for a holy dip in Ganga river on the occasion of “kartik purnima” on their motorcycle when a milk tanker hit them, station officer Vinod Kumar Yadav said, adding, both the vehicles fell in a 10-feet-deep drain.
While Sant Lal died on the spot, his wife was seriously injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, Yadav said.
According to the police, the tanker driver fled from the spot after the accident and the tanker was pulled out with the help of crane.
