New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday let go Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi with a warning to be careful in future for making references to the defence forces for political propaganda at an election rally in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh on April 3.
An EC order says Naqvi has accepted using words “Modiji ki Sena” despite the EC’s advisories to the parties twice to desist from using any reference to the defence forces in their political campaign and propaganda.

The EC said it “was convinced the statement made by him are not in line with the spirit of the Commission’s multiple advisories, to the political parties/ campaigners/ candidates, to desist, as part of their election campaigning, from indulging in any political propaganda involving activities of the defence forces”.
The “Modiji ki sena” comment was first made by UP CM Yogi Adityanath at a rally in Ghaziabad on March 31, drawing criticism from opposition parties for politicising the armed forces.
