New Delhi : Yoga guru Baba Ramdev is to be conferred with an honorary doctorate degree from the Haryana Agriculture University on July 26. It does not matter to the university that he is a school dropout as he did not complete even middle school education up to Class VIII.
To be conferred an honorary doctorate along with him is Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who otherwise does not qualify since he is not a postgraduate. He is a graduate from Delhi University. But so what? The university had honoured other chief ministers as well with the honorary doctorate like Devi Lal, Bansi Lal and Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth in-charge, Dr Jaideep Arya, expressed ignorance on the yoga guru getting any honorary degree as he said all that he knew was that he was going to Hisar on July 26 to attend the convocation.
The sources in Hisar, however, say the university administration had sought Ramdev’s consent to accept the honorary degree and he has conveyed his consent in writing.
