Ahmedabad : With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioning the discrepancy in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name in the degree certificate, the Gujarat University on Monday clarified that it’s common in the state for such irregularities to occur.

Speaking to ANI, officiating Vice-Chancellor of the Gujarat University Dr Mahesh B Patel, said the mark sheet provided by the Delhi University mentions the Prime Minister’s name as ‘Narendra Kumar’, on the basis of which admission was given. “We receive thousand of applications for change of names. It’s common in Gujarat that some differences in names happen… Marksheet provided by Delhi University mentions Narendra Kumar and admission was given on that basis,” Patel told ANI. “That is why marksheet of 1981 mentions Narendra Kumar, but he wrote Narendra in exam form of 1982,” he added. Days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned Prime Minister Modi’s educational qualification, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier on Monday released his college degrees and demanded an apology from the AAP supremo for his desperate attempts to turn a ‘blatant lie into truth’.
