Shimla : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday sought a high-level probe into the assets of all the chief ministers Himachal Pradesh has had, including himself.
“Himachal had five chief ministers so far, and since two of them, Dr Y S Parmar and Ram Lal are no more, it would be appropriate to enquire into the assets of the remaining three, before becoming chief minister and till date,” Dhumal wrote in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Without naming any leader, the former HP CM said “some people blow trumpet of their honesty while others suffer and get punishment for their silence, and as such a thorough probe would bring the truth to light and put an end to malicious propaganda unleashed against us.”
He alleged that ever since Congress has come to power in the state baseless allegations were being levelled against them.
Like in the past, a wrong list of our properties, about which we have not even heard, was given to ADGP (Vigilance) and even though the allegations were not supported by an affidavit the chief minister and spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau were using it for maligning him, Dhumal said.
“A complaint, purportedly sent by a Dharamsala-based advocate referring to properties, was taken cognisance of by Vigilance Bureau in spite of the fact that there was no affidavit is support of the charges. I am enclosing the copy of the complaint, requesting you to get the allegations probed by the CBI or a sitting SC judge after getting an affidavit from the complainant,” he wrote.
