On Sunday, a 30-year-old man was thrashed to death in east Delhi after objecting to liquor and drug addiction of his 51-year-old mother and her live-in partner.
According to Hindustan Times, the deceased was identified as Ravinder Pathak, a 30-year-old rickshaw-puller. The accused have been identified as Subhadra Devi (mother of the deceased) and her 30-year-old partner, Ajeet Kumar Mishra. Ravinder Pathak lived with his mother and her live-in partner in a rented room in New Ashok Nagar. The couple also has a three-month-old son. The couple would frequently drink and do drugs which Ravinder didn’t like.
On the day of the incident, Ravinder objected to couple’s drinking which led to an argument. After sometime, the argument turned violent, after which Subhadra Devi and Ajeet Kumar Mishra thrashed Ravinder with bricks and sticks until he was dead. The cops also found a muffler at the crime scene, which they suspect was used to strangle Ravinder.
Later, after killing Ravinder, the couple visited Noida and cooked up a story saying that he met with a road accident and called an ambulance. After sometime the ambulance arrived in Noida. The couple then informed the staff that the victim was in New Ashok Nagar. Later, after reaching the crime scene and seeing Ravinder’s injuries, the ambulance staff realised that it was a murder case.
Seeing that the ambulance staff has realised that it was a murder, the couple fled from the spot and reached north Delhi’s Azadpur where Devi’s daughter and son-in-law live. They narrated the cooked up story to daughter and son-in-law, but the son-in-law realised that they were lying and handed them over to the cops.
