Hyderabad: The death toll in the devastating cyclone ‘hudhud’ rose to 26 today with the report of one more death in the cyclone-hit Andhra Pradesh while over 1.35 lakh people are rehabilitated in the relief camps set up by the state government.

The maximum number of 16 deaths in various rain-related incidents are reported from the worst-hit Visakhapatnam.

In neighbouring Vizianagaram districts eight people were killed and two others died in Srikakulam district, the state disaster management department said in a statement.

It said more than 1.35 lakh people are rehabilitated in the relief camps and 6,85,000 people are provided food in the camps, the statement said.

The cyclone with gusty winds of about 180 kmph and heavy downpour battered Visakhapatnam and other coastal districts of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam on Sunday last, leaving a trail of destruction behind.
