Bhubaneswar: CPI today retained sitting MP from Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha constituency Bibhuprasad Tarai while releasing the first list of candidates for four Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly seats in Odisha.
Announcing the list, CPI Odisha unit secretary Dibakar Nayak said Tarai has been retained as candidate for the Jagatsinghpur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency, while Ashok Kumar Bisi has been fielded from Bargarh seat.
The Left party nominated Prashant Mishra from Balasore Lok Sabha seat and Ramesh Chandra Jena from Bhadrak (reserved) constituency, he said.
Among the candidates for 18 Assembly seats, the party fielded Krushna Nayak from Chatrapur in Ganjam district and Haladhar Pujari from Chitrakonda in Malkangiri.
The lone woman candidate fielded by CPI was Suryamani Nayak from Kotpad.
Senior leader Sura Jena will contest from Bhubaneswar (Ekamra) Assembly constituency, while Sushant Kumar Adhikari has been fielded from Jeypore, Abakash Sahu from Boudh, Bidyadhar Mahanta from Champua, Subhendra Pratap Mohanty from Bhandaripokhri, Upendra Roul from Chandbali, Santosh Biswal from Simulia, Jayakrushna from Sora, Gouranga Panigrahi from Balasore Sadar, Duryadhon Bhoi from Sundargarh, Kamal Behera from Kakatpur, Gajanan Sahu from Brajrajnagar, Basant Kumar Paikray from Begunia and Premchand Putel from Kantabanjhi, Nayak said.
