With 13,086 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 43,531,650. According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday, the country's active cases stands at 1,14,475, with 19 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours.
The active cases constituted 0.26% of the total infections, while the national recovery rate recorded was at 98.53%. The health ministry also said that the daily positivity rate was 2.90% and weekly positivity rate was 3.81%.
A total of 4,51,312 samples were tested on Monday, taking the cumulative samples tested tally to 86.44 crore.
COVID cases in Mumbai
In a happy news to Mumbaikars, the daily tally of infection cases in Mumbai dropped below 500, as per the state COVID data. On May 31, the Metropolitan city had recorded 506 cases that rose to whopping 2,000 plus by mid-June.
However, on Monday, the state tally, which was 1,515 earlier, dropped by 48% in comparison to Sunday. In the city, the daily test positivity rate dropped to 4.7% after rising to 20% several weeks ago.
