New Delhi: A Delhi court has issued notice to DGP Prisons after an inmate at Tihar Jail was forcibly branded with ‘OM’ symbol on his back and was also allegedly deprived of food for two days. District court judge Richa Parihar said: “The allegations raised by counsel for the prisoner are of serious nature and require immediate intervention.
Notice is being issued to DGP, Prisoner headquarters, Tihar Jail No.4, to get medical test of the accused and to make an inquiry report.” Nabbir alias Popa, a prisoner, is lodged at Jail No. 4 of Tihar. His counsel Jagmohan told the court Nabbir had been subjected to cruelty and inhuman treatment in jail by its Superintendent.
