Sticks to its demand of resignation of Raje, Chauhan and Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi : [posts title=”Latest Posts” count=”8″ orderby=”lastest” cats=”” tags=”” relation=”OR” ][/posts] The meeting held at the initiative of the leader of the house and union finance minister Arun Jaitley was described as not being an appropriate place to resolve the crisis. “The solution to the deadlock in parliament cannot be found in a meeting, but in action against a Union Minister and two Chief Ministers, that has to be taken by the prime minister and the BJP president”,  said Ghulam Nabi Azad Congress leader of opposition in  the Rajya Sabha.

Azad scoffed at the BJP”s counter-offensive against the chief minister of Congress ruled states. “The BJP leaders are sadly mistaken if they believe that they can browbeat the Congress through such acts of vengeance. As a party the Congress has a history of withstanding the worst form of oppression and repression at the hands of the British colonial power. If we could withstand that and emerge victorious, the BJP”s current tit for tat tactics are nothing as compared to that onslaught. Bu these charges against our chief ministers only show the narrow and undemocratic thinking of the ruling party,” he said.

The Congress leader is believed to be the person who would be named by the external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, if and when she makes her statement in the house where she promises to disclose the identity of a Congress leader who lobbied with her to issue a diplomatic passport for the coalgate accused former minister Santosh Bagrodia. During his interaction with the media, Azad repeatedly asserted that he has good personal relations with all the BJP leaders and maintained that politicians do request ministers to get ”some work done.”

“But respect for a person is one thing, and a blatantly illegal act is one thing. We are not fighting a personal war against these BJP leaders, whom we respect as persons. But this is a matter concerning principles and the sanctity of public life,” he added.

Virtually accusing the Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhararaje Scindia of committing an act amounting to treason”, the Congress leader said that it is shocking that the both the BJP and the prime minister instead of taking action against her are defending her. “The same is the case with Swaraj and Chauhan. Their acts have been debated and discussed so much in the public domain that the only thing remains is action to be taken against them,” he added. He regretted that instead of acting against these leaders the BJP has started an exercise in revenge and suppression of facts. “All through our rule during the last fifty years we have never acted with vengeance against those who have been critical of us,” he added.
