Jalpaiguri: TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee claimed that India's condition will soon be like Sri Lanka and Afghanistan under the BJP government.
“The way the price of fuel and LPG is rising soon the situation will be like Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The price hike that people are facing is the prize for voting for BJP,” said Banerjee.
Taking further potshots at the BJP, the TMC national secretary said BJP leaders are claiming that if the names of the central schemes are not changed they won’t pay the backlog money to the state.
“Mamata Banerjee had dedicated the schemes to the people of Bengal. Mamata Banerjee didn’t name it after her but the ego of the Prime Minister is so big that till the names are changed they are openly saying that they will not give money. They take money from the state but don't give the state’s share. But till Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is alive she will fight a way out," mentioned Banerjee.
Banerjee also alleged that after 14 months since the results, and all those BJP leaders who visited like daily passengers, while campaigning, are nowhere to be seen now.
“While coming to Dhupguri today, I stopped midway to check the condition of this region first-hand. I stopped at a marketplace and spoke to people regarding their issues. I wanted to see why the people didn’t vote for TMC, and where we were lacking. The people of the Hills are waiting for TMC leaders to approach them. I don’t mince words, and I am telling all TMC workers to go out and approach people to find out their issues, and resolve them and all the leaders should produce work done by them during the party's July 21’s rally,” further added Banerjee.
Banerjee also alleged that BJP leaders in these districts want to divide Bengal and said that till Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is alive Bengal won’t be divided.
The TMC national secretary also mentioned that his outreach programme ‘Ek Daake Abhishek’ (Abhishek a call away) will henceforth be extended from Diamond Harbour to Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar.
