Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a Class IX student delivered a child in the washroom of her school in the Madhapur area here, which is the city’s IT hub, police said today.
The 14-year-old student of a government high school went to the washroom after complaining of stomach pain while sitting in the classroom on Saturday, Malkajgiri’s Deputy Educational Officer (DEO), A Usha Rani, said.
“After sometime, the students and teachers heard the cries of a newborn baby and were shocked to find the girl with the baby. Both the mother and the baby girl were handed over to the police,” the DEO said, adding that even the girl’s friends said they did not notice her swollen abdomen.
Madhapur Police Inspector K Narasimulu said that based on a complaint by the girl’s father, they have registered a case of rape against a person named Dhanu, who is known to the victim.
