Chhattisgarh: FIR against BJP MPs for sharing fake video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

A TV channel which aired the doctored video linking to Rahul Gandhi issued a public apology for it.

On the complaint filed by the Congressmen, an FIR was lodged against former Central Minister cum BJP MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Subrat Pathak, Bhola Singh, Kamlesh Saini and Surendra Punia in Bilaspur Civil Lines Police Station for sharing doctored video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leader Pramod Nayak who filed an FIR against the ex-Union Minister in Bilaspur on Monday said, "I am shocked and hurt, how an ex-army veteran and Olympian can commit such an offence."

SHO Civil lines Bilaspur Parivesh Tiwari said, "FIR was lodged against MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Subrat Pathak, Bhola Singh, Kamlesh Saini and Surendra Punia under IPC section 505 for sharing fake video with the intention to create a disturbance."

"The fake video is intentionally shared to disturb existing communal harmony in the society and tarnish the image of our respected leader Rahul Gandhi," alleged Congress State President Mohan Markam.

The act is unpardonable and should be condemned in strong words. BJP must tender a public apology and refrain from committing such heinous acts. The ex-central minister must be prosecuted, the tribal Congress leader demanded.

"If the attempt is made by a former Union minister to spread fake news with an intention of disturbing existing brotherhood and communal harmony in the country and creating a law and order situation, then the former Minister must get prosecuted under the sedition law," Congress Sushil Anand Shukla said.

Meanwhile slamming BJP on the issue of the brutal Udaipur killing, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, "Riaz Attari, the prime accused who murdered the Udaipur tailor Khanaiya Lal, was also a BJP member, and the whole BJP and media is mum over it."

"BJP must explain what is the party's connection with the prime accused," the Chief Minister further asked addressing the media in a programme.

Congress Party media chief spokesperson Pawan Khera also condemned the act of sharing fake videos and said police complaints were lodged in Delhi, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
