On Monday, a group of college students celebrated "Bus Day" and climbed on the top of a bus in huge numbers. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the video students can be precariously sitting on the bus roof and dangling from handles.

According to news agency ANI, the Chennai Police detained at least 24 students from Pachayappa College for climbing on buses and hanging from its windows in the name of the city’s infamous ‘Bus Day’ celebrations on Monday. The Chennai police have arrested the students for creating a public nuisance.

What is Bus Day?

Bus Day is an annual tradition in Chennai, during which students barge into public buses and ride on top of them, troubling passengers, drivers and disrupting the flow of traffic. Students have been observing this day and causing public nuisance, despite repeated warnings by Chennai Police. This time as well, the students did not shy away from climbing atop the bus and trying out stunts. Despite the Madras High Court coming down heavily on Bus Day celebrations, the nuisance has continued this year as well.
