An inter-ministerial seven-member team (IMCT) of the Centre, led by Mr Prakash, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, was on a two-day visit to assess the damage caused by cyclone Tauktae in the Union Territory of Diu.
On Saturday, the second day of their visit, the team held a review meeting with the Diu administration officials. Collector Saloni Rai apprised the team of the steps taken before and after the cyclone. Besides Rai, Chief Conservator of Forests KK Ravichandran, Finance Secretary Gaurav Singh Rajawat, Public Works Department Secretary Sourav Mishra, Power Secretary Tapasya Raghav, Chief Superintendent of Police Anuj Kumar and other officers were present in the meeting.
The other members of the central team included officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Power, Fisheries, Rural Development and Road Transport and Highways. Later, the team visited the affected areas and its members interacted with the local people listening to their grievances.
The team appreciated the efforts made by the Diu administration in their pre-cyclone preparation and restoration of services after the cyclone.
