Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed her concern over the way a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official had called a top party functionary and wanted to talk about the party’s internal income and expenditure.
It is learnt that a CBI official telephoned the Trinamool Congress office on EM Bypass and wanted to talk to Trinamool Congress All India General Secretary and party MP Subrata Bakshi. The party workers told the CBI official that Bakshi was not available as he was campaigning for the ensuing municipal election in Midnapore.
Mamata, who has been touring in North Bengal, expressed her displeasure to some of her close associates about the phone call. She reportedly said that if the CBI wants to speak to any party functionary, it should send a letter instead of wanting to speak over phone. She also said that if the CBI wants to, it could talk to her as she is the chairperson of the party.
The CBI official reportedly wanted to talk to Bakshi to seek details of the party’s income and expenditure between 2010 and 2014 in connection with the Saradha scam.
The CBI, a few days back, had served notice to the Trinamool Congress seeking details of its income and expenditure between 2010 and 2014.
