BJP not ready to leave anything to chance in the high stakes Bihar polls.
New Delhi : Come October and the people of Bihar would find a carpet bombing of Central ministers in the farthest corners of their otherwise neglected state. From heavy weight cabinet ministers of the Narendra Modi govt to the relatively junior ones of the council, everybody is lining up to hit the campaign trail in the high stakes Bihar polls. And this is in addition to BJP president Amit Shah, his entire team of office-bearers and thousands of party workers from various states of the Hindi heartland already camping in different districts of the state. With the Bihar assembly polls being projected as a do-or-die battle for all the key players, the BJP is leaving nothing to chance.
The second phase of campaign for the high decibel Bihar election begins on October 1. After his return from the US, BJP’s star attraction Prime Minister Narendra Modi would head for the heat and dust of Bihar campaign on October 2 with an election rally in Banka. Just a day before, on October 1, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley would lead the show for the
release of the party”s Vision Document (in place of a Manifesto) in Patna. Home Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to spend at least three consecutive days this week addressing public meetings in different areas going to polls in the first phase.
Among others, HRD minister Smriti Irani, Road Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj would also be campaigning for the first phase going to polls on October 12.
Significantly, all this is over and above the half a dozen ministers who belong to Bihar. The state enjoys a strength of seven ministers in the union council. All of them have been asked to concentrate on the elections full time. These include Ravishankar Prasad, Radha Mohan Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Giriraj Singh, Ram Kirpal Yadav. Two other cabinet ministers JP Nadda and Anant Kumar have also been pressed full time in the organisational management of the crucial elections. Anant Kumar is also the election Prabhari (in-charge) of the Bihar assembly polls.
