New Delhi : The entire Opposition erupted into anger in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday over a Rajasthan minister’s disparaging remarks against a 13-year old girl allegedly gang-raped by eight school teachers in Bikaner, demanding his dismissal.
The issue was brought into focus during the zero hour by Bihar’s Kahkashan Parveen (JD-U) who rushed into the well along with women members of other parties and some male members too joined them after deputy chairman P J Kurien tried to stop her for speaking without giving a notice.
As the slogans of “Mahilaon ko samman do” and “mantri ko barkhast karo” were raised from the well, the deputy chairman adjourned the House for ten minutes and later allowed Parveen speak on the issue and allowed the Congress members Shelja, Viplava Thakur and Rajani Patel too join her.
They were protesting at Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria disputing the gang-rape allegation of the girl as doubtful since she did not inform her parents about it on the same day.
