New Delhi: Instead of picking up a new cabinet secretary, the highest bureaucratic post, the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) comprising PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday gave yet another extension of three months to Pradeep Kumar Sinha.
A Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer of 1977 batch, he is already on a 2-year extension and he was due for retirement on June 12. Extension to him means curtains for Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, a Jharkhand cadre IAS officer, as he would retire on August 15 unless he too gets extension to be in the reckoning.
Another strong contender was Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan, a Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer of 1982 batch, but she is also due for retirement on July 12.
