Mumbai: According to sources in the forensic department of the Nair Hospital, the skeletal remains received from the police on Saturday, which included 35 bones, belong to a woman aged 22-year-old. These remains were recovered from the crime spot in Raigad district. “By examining the thigh bone and tooth, it is possible to determine age, sex and height of a person. By examining the thigh bone, especially which is near the pelvic area, we can determine the gender. Further, by conducting bone ossification tests, we can get to know the age of a person,” the source pointed out.
Meanwhile, the DNA report from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina is expected by the end of this week; it is expected to establish whether the DNA extracted from the bone remnants matches with that of Indrani Mukerjea or not. It will also reveal the gender of the deceased and reinforce the findings of the Nair hospital. FSL sources said that the police will also shortly submit blood samples of Siddhartha Das in order to match his DNA samples with that of Mikhail and Sheena. This will help determine whether they are his and Indrani’s biological children.
