Patna : A BJP worker was shot dead in the Bihar capital on Thursday morning, triggering protests by party leaders, police said. According to police, Avinash Kumar was shot dead when he was on his way to a tea shop near a temple in Salimpur Ahra area.
Police have detained two people for the killing and have set up a Special Investigation Team. Three people, allegedly involved in the killing, have been identified through CCTV footage, and police said they will be arrested soon.
Bharatiya Janata Party legislators raised the issue in the assembly and created a ruckus, that led to the speaker adjourning the house.
Hundreds of BJP workers and supporters blocked roads and burnt tyres to protest the killing and demanded that police arrest the culprits within two days, reported IANS.
