Panaji : Rebel RSS leader Subhash Velingkar on Friday claimed that BJP will not win even five seats in the next year’s Goa Assembly elections because of its increasing unpopularity and insults it had meted out to its alliance partner MGP.

“If BJP wins even five seats we can say the party has ruled Goa well in the last five years,” Velingkar said here, reports PTI. On Thursday, MGP chief Dipak Dhavalikar had hinted at uncertainty about continuance of alliance with BJP in the coming elections.

Velingkar, whose Goa Suraksha Manch has offered alliance to MGP, said the two parties can form the next government. “The new government after 2017 elections can be of MGP- GSM. The future of Goa is bright in the hands of these two parties. Voters have started realising that BJP’s behaviour towards them and their own leaders is unfair,” he said.  On Dhavalikar’s remark that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had taken the state back by ten years, Velingkar said MGP chief’s statement was prompted by what his party had been facing for the last five years. “MGP was forced to face humiliation by BJP despite they being alliance partner,” Velingkar said. “MGP’s stand of not fighting the elections under Parsekar’s leadership is genuine because they are not happy with him,” he claimed. Velingkar also said that it was the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar who was calling the shots in the state. “The state bureaucracy also knows that decisions are taken by Parrikar and Parsekar is just a dummy CM,” he said.

Goa’s ruling BJP condemned alliance partner MGP’s demand to replace Laxmikant Parsekar as Chief Minister,  adding that the party would not change its leadership “under any condition”.BJP Goa unit spokesperson Nilesh Cabral said that the comments made by Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party president and cabinet minister Deepak Dhavalikar, were not mature and that the decision on the alliance between both parties would be eventually taken by Union minsters Manohar Parrikar and Nitin Gadkari and state Public Works Department minister Sudin Dhavalikar.     — IANS
