Nagpur: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sudhir Mungantiwar said the party has received feelers from many Congress leaders seeking entry into the BJP, prompting him to say only good leaders from the Congress would be inducted. “The Congress party is like a medicine past its expiry date. It has no impact any longer. There are just a handful of decent leaders left in the Congress who work for the welfare of the public. We are intending to induct such good leaders, others need not bother trying to gain entry,” Mungantiwar told the media at an event in Nagpur.
Balu Dhanorkar, the sole member of Parliament from the Congress in Maharashtra had recently raised the subject of scrapping prohibition in Chandrapur. Mungantiwar taunted the new Congress MP saying, “Until now, before joining the Congress party, a person had to pledge they did not consume alcohol and nor would they do so in the future.” Further, he said, on payment of membership fees to the Congress, the motto was printed on the back of the receipt. “The Congress can now throw away these old receipts,” said Mungantiwar, since a Congressman had now sought a ban on prohibition.
