New Delhi: BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday made it clear that the party will continue with the electoral alliance with the Shiv Sena in the Assembly elections due in October this year.

He also advised the assembled BJP leaders at a BJP core committee meeting not to antagonise the Sena in any manner but seek its cooperation to maximise seats in the Assembly elections.

The meeting was convened here to discuss with leaders of Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand organisational issues and strategy for the Assembly polls in the three states ruled by the BJP-led NDA governments.

The meeting was attended by the chief ministers of all three states -- Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra, Raghubar Das of Jharkhand and Manohar Lal Khattar of Haryana.

Accompanied by organising general secretary Ram Lal and his joint secretary Sudah Singh, Shah first held a meeting with the leaders of the three states together and then held separate meetings, first with Haryana leaders, following by Jharkhand and Maharashtra.

The meeting with Maharashtra leaders was attended among others by state party president Raosaheb Patil Danve, now a union minister, and state party in-charge Saroj Pandey.

In case of Haryana, those who attended the meeting included Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar and the state ministers Anil Vij, Om Prakash Dhankar, Ram Bilas Sharma and Capt. Abhimanyu.

He gave them a target of "65 par" in the Assembly elections. The Houses has a total 81 seats. In the last Assembly polls in 2014, the BJP had won 42 seats.
