Jaipur: Jubilant with the high voter turnout in the second phase of the LS election, the BJP is expecting a landslide victory in the 25 seats in Rajasthan. Senior party leaders, who met at the BJP headquarters in Jaipur, were confident of winning at least 20 seats. In 2014, it had won 25 seats, a clean sweep, while the Congress had failed to open its account. The leaders said the party rode the Modi wave in 2014. People voted BJP to power and made him the PM. They wanted to do it again. The voters were focused on issues, and Modi was on top of the mind of the electorate, who overwhelmingly voted for the saffron party.

On the other hand, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot was hopeful high polling in the first as well as the second phase would benefit Congress, as people came out in large numbers to throw Modi out of power. Similar sentiments were expressed by Sachin Pilot, the Pradesh Congress president and the deputy CM. The BJP leaders were so enthralled with the high poll percentage not only in state, but across the country that they hoped the party would cross the 300-mark, and the empahtic victory will see the fall of the Congress ruled states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. Former minister and a senior party functionary Vasudev Deonani, who is from the RSS, added the crushing defeat of the Congress in the ongoing election would create factions in the party.
