New Delhi: The BJP has given the Lok Sabha tickets to the sitting MPs, including Union minister Sripad Naik from North Goa. Narendra Sawaikar will again contest from South Goa; and national spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri in Odisha. Both the names were announced in the list of 48 more candidates released by Union minister J P Nadda on Saturday night, raising the total number of candidates declared to 286.
He also announced candidates for three Assembly by-elections in Goa. They are: Dayanand Sopte from Mandre, Josua Peter D’souza from Mapusa that fell vacant after the demise of Deputy CM Francis D’souza and Shiroda Subhash Shirodkar. Nadda also disclosed Uma Bharati, the former Madhya Pradesh CM, has been appointed a national vice-president of the party in lieu of her decision not to seek re-election to the LS. The candidates were declared on Saturday for seats in MP, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.
