Barasat (WB): Some BJP workers, including party national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh, were injured in a lathicharge by the police during a law-violation programme at Barasat in North 24-Parganas district today, a claim the police denied.
The BJP in protest has called a half-an-hour road blockade throughout West Bengal tomorrow. Additional SP Tarun Haldar refuted the BJP’s charge and said that the police did not make any lathicharge. He said that 10 police personnel, including the IC, Barasat, were injured in the scuffle.
Singh (in pic) alleged that the police used lathis and several party men, including him, “were injured”. He said that BJP workers organised the protest against the “activities of Jamaat-Ul-Mujahedeen Bangladesh, a deteriorating law and order situation and attacks on women in the state”.
