New Delhi: Supreme Court advocate Ajay Agrawal, who was the BJP candidate against Sonia Gandhi from Rae Bareli in the 2014 elections, has revolted against Prime Minister Modi for ignoring him and giving the ticket this time to a Congress rebel. In an open 4-page letter written with anguish to Modi, he said: “Contrary to your boast of winning 400 seats this time, the BJP will be reduced to 40 if the elections are free and fair.”

Agrawal has claimed that the BJP would have lost the last Gujarat Assembly election in December 2017 but for a sedition charge he piled against former PM Manmohan Singh, Mani Shankar Aiyar and other Congress leaders hobnobbing with the Pakistan leaders to turn the tables. He has also sent an audio recording to the PM in which top RSS leader Dattatreya Hosable admits that his sensational disclosure of the sedition turned the table to save the BJP from losing the elections.

“We had two encounters thereafter but you as well as BJP President Amit Shah deliberately ignored me since both of you do not want to give credit to anyone and instead suspected that I will extract political price,” Agrawal wrote in his letter dated April 10.

Agrawal wrote that the entire nation wanted BJP patriarch Lal Krishna Advani to be the President of India but he was sacrificed for the sake of the Gujarat Assembly elections and instead Ramnath Kovind was made the President because he comes from Kori (or, Koli) community which has very large number of people in Gujarat who are otherwise the traditional Congress voters.

However, the BJP appeared still losing that could be seen on Modi’s face, he said, pointing out that it was his disclosure of the Congress leaders’ sedition right on December 9, 2017 at the time of the first round of polling that the tables were turned in the second phase on December 14.

He pointed out that he had bagged the highest 1.73 lakh votes against Sonia Gandhi in 2014 as against BJP candidate Girish Chandra Pandey getting only 31,290 votes in 2004, Vinay Katiyar got only 19,657 in 2006 by-election and RB Singh 25,444 in 2009.

Noting that he was able to muster such a large number of votes despite neither Modi nor any star campaigner coming to his constituency, Agrawal regretted that the BJP has ‘insulted’ him by giving the Raebareli ticket to a person who had defected from the Congress. “He won’t get even 50,000 votes, no matter that you camp in the constituency for three days.”

Advocate Agrawal, who claims to have a relationship with Modi for the past 28 years, taking meals together not less than 100 times, said he had written many letters on how the demonetisation has inconvenienced the poor and corruption was rampant in the banks converting the old notes of the rich by taking 30% commission.  He said he also kept writing to Modi about the shortcomings in the GST but he got no response and instead became a victim of his annoyance.
